Dear eNews Friends & Family,I’m often asked by Destiny College students, “What has been my life’s biggest lessons?”Recently, this lesson came to mind after a dearly beloved Mentor and Pastor called me this week from the States... Keri Jones, who played a huge part in our lives and oversaw a global apostolic network, once said this to me as he talked about the importance of making disciples and raising a generation of leaders:“Entrust these things to faithful men, not men you are hoping will be faithful.”(He was quoting Paul’s letter to Timothy.)Since then, faithfulness has proven to be the make-or-break key on so many important issues. The Bible also asks, “Many a man proclaims his own loyalty, but who can find a faithful man?” - Proverbs 20:6 Every Christian thinks he’s faithful until there’s a test.Faithfulness shows up and shows through when the going gets tough. Faithfulness also shows up when it looks like no one else is looking or noticing. David once said this of a faithful man, “He keeps his word even to his own disadvantage and does not change it for his own benefit;” - Psalms 15:4 AMPFaithfulness also shows up when it’s no longer convenient, when it’s not the popular choice, or leaves you isolated from so-called friends who have walked away.Yet, it seems God values faithfulness above all other values. It’s why He said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you…” Hebrews 3:5We are learning that the Spirit-led life leads us into faithfulness. When we are faithful, it looks like this:
- We are loyal in friendship.
- We walk through conflict not away from it.
- We are trustworthy in intimacy.
- We are faithful and true to our spouse.
- We are honourable in service.
- You can always depend on us.
- We are committed in finances by bringing in our tithes and offerings.
- We carry financial responsibility for the house of which we are a part. Some Christians want to eat the rich food provided at the church, call on the pastors for help in need, or provide references needed for new jobs but have got into the habit of letting others pay for it.
- We are true to our values.
- Values always lead to vision. You can have a big vision, but if you’re not careful, will compromise everything you stand for to get there.
This week we are continuing our teaching, now focusing on the “Spirit-led Woman.” One thing is for sure, we are grateful for every faithful woman in this house. They are true heroes, standing strong in the hurricanes of life.I want to encourage you, this is not a weekend to miss. Bring someone with you to church!Love you guys,Andrew & Sue
