Dear eNews Friends & Family,We are all weary of today’s "Cancel Culture"...From University Halls to Venue Hires, Christians (amongst others) are "cancelled" on a daily basis. We personally know this all too well, in that two years ago, Destiny Church was "cancelled" by the City of Edinburgh Council for our biblical views on Marriage. The Usher Hall kicked us out and cancelled our conference booking, labelling us "homophobic." We were marginalised and silenced - or so they thought. We pushed back, went to court, and WON! Thank God and thank you to all those people who stood with us in prayer and giving. Our biggest win was a written guarantee from the council that all Churches could use all council facilities and venues at any time. But - did you know that God has His own "Cancel Culture?"

So, listen, friends! Through this Jesus, the cancellation of sins is offered to you. Acts 13:38

If there is one thing that desperately needs cancelling, it’s our sins. Sin is not a list of misdemeanours or God’s list of pet peeves. Sin is a hideously destructive force that has gripped every human being. Sin is just like gravity, you cannot escape its pull, and that pull is always downwards to death. It shows up in rebellion against God, hatred of one another and the awful politics of self-righteous declarations. Sin kills relationships, marriages, health, hope and happiness. Above all, it kills stone-dead any ability on our part to have a relationship with a living God.Yet, within every human heart, there is a God-shaped gap, aching and longing. We search and reach for the next best thing only to find there is never any gold at the end of the rainbow. That infamous billionaire, Howard Hughes, was once asked, "What does it take to make a man happy?" His reply was, "Just one more thing."Yet - God invites us into HIS "Cancel Culture," where He cancelled out both the wrongs we have done and the power behind them!We call this coming Friday, "Good Friday," yet, Jesus suffered the most horrendous death on that cross. So why is it called "Good Friday?" Because our sins were cancelled, deleted, expunged and removed! That crucifixion wasn’t an execution - it was a sacrifice. Which is why it had to be the High Priests who condemned Jesus. Pilate and Herod as rulers could authorise executions, but only High Priests could officiate a sacrifice. Jesus, the Lamb of God, who took away the sins of the world died to cancel our sins.Jesus did for us what we could not do for ourselves. When the world writes you off as "not good enough," or when the voices in our hearts shout out ‘"shame on you!" Or when there is good reason to give up, step down, or quit, God stepped in and called us to step up!It’s time to celebrate and share this good news!
