eNews | Day 3 Prayer & Fasting | June '20

Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.”  - Proverbs 16:32 Dear e-News friends and church members,How is your week of prayer and fasting going? Are you more aware of God’s presence? Is His word more alive to you? One thing is for sure, there is nothing quite like making a commitment to regular prayer and fasting to reveal to us what really rules in our lives – God, us or our appetites! There is a lot in our world to be angry about at the moment, and the right kind of anger is a good thing.  Then there is the toxic, negative destructive kind of anger that our verse talks about. Fasting can often draw the least attractive side of our temperaments to the surface, but be encouraged, there is a power from God available to each of us not just to cope with these moments but to overcome them and be free of them.

God is more impressed with a sincere believer committed to ruling over his own life than He is by a warrior who can conquer whole cities! How do we rule over our spirits?
  • We choose fasting over satisfying persistent hunger pains.
  • We might choose prayer over TV for a time.
  • We let go of things that hold us back.
  • We forgive when we feel justified to be angry and upset.
  • We say what the word says, not what we feel.
  • We think on things worthy of the wonderful mind God has given us. (1 Corinthians 2:16)
  • We flee fallen passions, knowing there is always a way of escape.(1 Corinthians 10:16)
  • We get our strength from Gods joy not personal happiness. “The joy of the Lord is our strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10)
  • We walk by faith and not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7)
As you fast and pray remember, you do so not in your own strength but believing:
"Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,'says the Lord of hosts." - Zechariah 4:6Our corporate and your personal breakthrough is coming!Craig.
