Dear e-News friends and church members,E-News Part 2:The Royal lawWe can only find one law asked of us in the New Testament, and it’s so important it’s called the Royal law. Meaning it’s coming direct from the throne of heaven itself."If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, "Love your neighbour as yourself," you are doing right." - James 2:8Lots of people need our love right now.Our black church family and black community need our love right now, as the horrors of the George Floyd killing, bring back for so many the personal racism that they have faced, and sometimes still facing. The homeless need our love right now, as we provide food for them in so many hotels and hostels. The NHS and care home workers, with other frontline workers need our love right now.Families are needing our love right now as tensions are high in some places because of the lockdownThe church needs your love right now as we do all we can to both live in love as a church and do all that we can to care for the church family and thousands of others in the community. Our social action team are doing a fantastic job delivering and cooking hot food five days a week to meet many needs across the city of Glasgow. We are now working with 12 charities, agencies and the social work department. We are still connecting with other organisations who are also supporting the community at this time.We have been praying and trusting God for supplies and we are receiving generous donations of food from various businesses and other charities. Plus, PLEASE keep donating, keep giving. In May alone we have seen:
- 6300 meals given out through our food bags.
- 5476 of hot meals given out. This takes us to an outstanding total of 8137 hot meals given out since we started this initiative in April.
- Last week we were able to make our first delivery of hot meals for staff to both Stobhill and QEU hospitals.
- We recently collected 180 fresh food boxes from British Red Cross to distribute to those in need.
- Our Gorbals building is coming back up to speed and providing food in that community.
We have many new opportunities and agencies joining us and reaching for support, so we are in need of more delivery drivers, and volunteers. One of our own volunteers who hasn’t connected with church before and who has been regularly coming in to help gave her life to Jesus this week. Do you know anyone who could help? Their life too could change!
This Sunday we will have a fantastic and significant time at church online with hugely important messages, PLUS, Sue and I will be doing a live chat with special guests on ‘Black lives do matter’, immediately afterwards.
Don’t miss this moment, very important for us ALL to hear, no matter what race or colour we are.Keep praying, keep believing. All our pastors are working full-time, which means we are all available for you. So, if you want to talk, want prayer, want to share, about anything arising in your life at this time or anything that concerns you - don’t hesitate to get in touch.
We love you church,Andrew & Sue
