Just a few years ago I went back to university to pursue a masters degree in community development. On the first day of class, our course lecturer asked us why we had signed up? We were mostly mature students who didn’t actually need the qualification to get a better job. So why bother?The unanimous answer, we all wanted to change the world!This is exactly what Thy Kingdom Come is all about. We are praying these ten days between Ascension and Pentecost to change our world. Millions of Christian praying - together!!The thing is, before we can change the world, God had to change us first.Politicians can change human conditions but only Jesus can change human nature.In one sense that change is immediate, we are instantly born again into God’s family the moment we pray and ask Jesus to be the Lord and Saviour of our lives. Maybe you haven’t done that yet? But you can right now (I will help you do that at the end of this eNews).But the Bible also teaches us we are legally adopted into God’s family - we get His name, and He welcomes us home.Yet although our status changes immediately, the patterns of our thinking, the selfish nature of our hearts, and the damage of the hurts we have both experienced and probably given, take time to adjust, heal and change.And God is with us every step of the way, never even thinking of letting us go.As we pray today, we need to remember that those we want to see saved and added to God’s family are also in that place.
