Hey friends, Sue here - God bless you today and this Easter weekend. These are my Good Friday thoughts: Conquests of the Cross From His betrayal to our belonging. Jesus gave himself over to His enemies... “Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the experts in the law. They will condemn him to death,"- Matthew 20:18 - NETSo that we could be given to a merciful God..."But you are God’s chosen treasure —priests who are kings, a spiritual “nation” set apart as God’s devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience his marvellous light, and now he claims you as his very own."- 1 Peter 2:9 - TPTJesus was wrongfully accused......"Jesus didn’t answer—not one word. But the high priests and religion scholars were right there, saying their piece, strident and shrill in their accusations."- Luke 23:8 - MSGWe are forgiven forever, and our accuser is thrown down..."Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God." - Revelation 12:10 - ESVWe are lifted because of JOY (the lost sheep)..."And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders."- Luke 15:5 - NLTThe Lord (our Lamb) was lifted upon a cross - for the joy set before Him..."He endured the cross, ignoring the shame, for the sake of the joy that was laid out in front of him, and sat down at the right side of God’s throne."- Hebrews 12:2 - CEBJesus offered the cup of covenant..."And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you."- Luke 22:19-20 - NIVHe has become our cup of life...."You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness..."- Hebrews 12: 24 - NLTJesus is life in all its fullness..."The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose (said Jesus) is to give them a rich and satisfying life."- John 10:10 - NLTHe knew it was coming and walked forward anyway. He had you and I in mind - how kind, how giving, how brave. Be blessed as you share the reason for your faith this weekend.
