Week of prayer and fasting day four: Thursday
Fasting As Worship!"Then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshipped night and day, fasting and praying"(Luke 2:37)She never left the Temple!What a statement.Do you know there is someone else who never leaves the temple?
"Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body."(1 Corinthians 6:19-20, NASB) The Holy Spirit!Unlike this widow, you cannot be at church 24/7, but you can worship night and day wherever you are.Nothing glorifies God quite like worship, and worship with fasting really demonstrates you know for sure you are not your own.Be cautious though, even with the Holy Spirit within us, fasting is a choice. Some wise words from D.L Moody…"If you say "I will fast when God lays it on my heart," you never will. You are too cold and indifferent to take the yoke upon you."Today as you pray please pray for:
- Alpha to be a most effective outreach tool across the church this year. We launch a new series on Thursday 23rd January 2020, who should come?
- The success of the Billy Graham Evangelistic association outreach at the Hydro in Glasgow on the 30th May 2020. Destiny Glasgow has booked 1000 seats, who will you bring?
- The growth of our legacy missionary fund, we are believing for £1,000,000.00 ( One million) and 10,000 souls.
- For our Students Impact conference (Saturday 22nd February) , Surge conference in Edinburgh (Saturday 29th June) and Diamonds ladies conference (Saturday 3rd October) to be truly impactful and significant moments for all those who attend.
Go for it in prayer today and remember, the Holy Spirit is present within you ready to lead you and strengthen you as you fast, worship and pray.Craig
